A Russian Open 85 was recently re-rigged by Plymouth based AllSpars. Stainless rigging was replaced by synthetic fibre and hence all the mast spreader end fittings were changed as well. Composite Innovations carried out the engineering of the new spreader ends. These fittings were manufactured in carbon by FSCS Composites Plymouth.
The FEA modelling was done with Visual FEA. As well as our own spreadsheet tools Composite Innovations runs 3 commercial software programmes; Visual FEA, Magics FEA and CoDA.
